August 08Masterpiece in the MakingOften times when I am hired or just simply inspired to make an arrangement, I have to run off to a quiet place where I can be alone to focus on the craft. It didn't take me long to figure out that sometimes well meaning spectators can just interfere with the design process. It's so amusing when I sit back and think of all the times I've been in 'design-mode' just to be interrupted by a comment from well-meaning loved ones, who know nothing about the craft. One story comes to mind in particular: Recently, I had an order to complete that consisted of a pair of accent pieces for a client. A sample picture of the client's request was posted as a guide of what the finished product should resemble. However, midway through, a dear friend with no floral design experience, thought she'd do the right thing and help me by frequently adding her opinions, which finally concluded with a sigh of regret as she admitted, "Wow, I know you're talented, but this is really ugly, and it looks nothing like the photo." Then she kindly reclined on the office couch and took a nap. Not even stunted by her comment, I proceeded to make the arrangement with God instructing me on the placement of each detail, while now working at an even faster pace than before all the well meaning interruptions. About thirty minutes later this dear friend awakened from her rest and found two completed arrangements. With a huge grin she exclaimed, "Oh my gosh, are these the same arrangements? What did you do; they are beautiful?!" And I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ [right up to the time of His return], developing [that good work] and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you. -Philippians 1:6 AMP. Never forget that God is not finished with you yet and despite the surveys of well meaning critics that often judge prematurely, God's hands are upon you and you are being made...being made beautiful! For God makes all things beautiful in His time. (Ecclesiastes 3:11) So learn a lesson from my dear friend, rather than complain about how awful everything currently looks...go ahead and rest, so the Master can finish His work. I promise you won't be disappointed!!! Excel them all... Martina 9:42 PM GMT | Read comments(1)
